The crude oil futures fell on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) as global economic concerns persist. The benchmark crude oil futures contract for March delivery slipped by 1.4% to $71.50 per barrel.

MCX Crude Oil Futures Decline

Oil prices have been under pressure due to weakening demand and surging supply. The OPEC+ production cuts have not been enough to stem the tide of rising crude oil inventories worldwide. As a result, crude oil futures have declined by 4.2% over the past five trading sessions.

Copper and Aluminum Prices Decline on MCX

Copper prices on the MCX also declined by 2.1% to Rs. 737.30 per kilogram. The decline in copper prices is largely due to weakening demand from the electronics sector. Aluminum prices on the MCX declined by 1.5% to Rs. 224.30 per kilogram.

Global Economic Concerns Persist

The decline in crude oil, copper, and aluminum prices on the MCX is a reflection of the ongoing global economic concerns. The IMF has cut its global growth forecast for the third time in six months, citing trade tensions and geopolitical uncertainty. As a result, market participants are becoming increasingly risk-averse, leading to a decline in commodity prices.
