The London Metal Exchange (LME) aluminium price surged to $2,550 per tonne, its highest level since March 2023.

Crude Oil Futures Decline

In contrast, crude oil futures declined by 2.1% as OPEC+ announced a modest increase in production. The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its allies agreed to boost oil output by 648,000 barrels per day in August. The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil price fell to $76.50 per barrel, its lowest level since January 2023.

Gold Futures Decline

Gold futures also declined by 0.8% as investors turned to riskier assets. The precious metal's price decrease can be attributed to a combination of factors, including a decline in global economic uncertainty and a rise in the US dollar. The spot gold price fell to $1,920 per ounce, its lowest level since April 2023.
